The pandemic has severely impacted on everything we do and how we interact and the fashion and style world is not immune.
Fashion and style enthusiast Candi Acosta of Sweet LinkTT and Nakita Henry of PatrioticTT have joined forces to not only celebrate local fashion with a virtual pop-up. The event, which took place at Meiling’s 6Carlos, home to a bevy of local fashion labels, allowing enthusiasts to get a sneak peek into some of the top brands without having to leave home.
The virtual pop-up is part of the #LocalWeLiveTour. The idea for the tour was a result of a brainstorm session with Nakita Henry of PatrioticTT. She’d focus on the cultural aspects and I centre on local fashion and entrepreneurship.
“We all wear clothing and therefore partake in fashion whether we realise it or not. Style is the personal flair you add to what you wear. You can’t buy that.
“I wanted to erase the idea that fashion is an exclusive sector in Trinidad and Tobago.”

“Considering that pop-ups are generally on a time out I decided to pop into fashion spots and designer spaces to get the scoop and sweet offerings from them during the pandemic. National Patriotism Month was the catalyst and then we decided to carve out OUR space in the mix.”
